Hand-Marbled and Painted
Papers by Galen Berry

These gorgeous papers are individually hand-marbled by Master Marbler Galen Berry. Galen's designs are incredibly complex, rich and creative. I've never seen a marbler lay a pattern as precisely and as reliably as Galen does. He's one of the very few who do this full time in the U.S. We love supporting a favorite artist.

These images are scans of papers in stock now and each is one-of-a-kind. Each piece of paper is 19" X 25" (though my scanner is only 8 1/2" X 14" so you can see only a portion of each sheet) and is suitable for bookbinding, gift wrap, collage, photo mats, card making, framing and much, much more.

Please remember that the papers are sold "first-come, first-served" and that we have only one sheet of each pictured. All paper sales are final.* Click any image for a larger view.

Paper marbling is a centuries-old tradition although the techniques were always kept secret to foil the competition. Beautiful papers similar to those pictured here have been made in Turkey, India and Persia since the 15th century.

It was only in the 19th century that a book was produced in England which shared the secrets and allowed marbling to be practiced by more artists and consequently appreciated by a larger audience.

In the 1970s there was a renewed interest in paper marbling and, although there are few full-time marblers in the U.S., interest is still growing.

Galen Berry's high quality papers tend to feature the historic and beautiful patterns of long ago and he uses Texoprint Paper exclusively.

* Handmade papers have all the variations and imperfections that you would expect from any product made by hand. Therefore, all sales on paper are final.
